It will not be out of place to mention that CRESCENT FOUNDRY is an engineering unit. The company has been founded by an engineer and there after engineers have effectively put their thoughts and action in place to give shape to CRESCENT. It can provide one stop shop from DRAWING TO DESPATCH all in one company.

Design

CRESCENT has a Design Cell which shapes the castings. It is the first step to providing solutions. Normally we receive drawings and sketches showing the sectional dimension. Designers create drawings of component then our product development team make wooden/ aluminum pattern, master pattern and do other dimensional inspection. It is a major activity.

DESIGN ANALYSIS – The design is analyzed in PRO-ENGINEERING tools to evaluate load capacity, weight and weak areas in the design for suitable correction. The design is corrected considering suitable safety factors.

DRAWING –Designers use CAD to make various drawings required for pattern making, machining, finishing and inspection.

SAMPLE MAKING- Developing an item correctly is the first step to solution. At present CRESCENT have 3 teams taking care of this activity simultaneously.

CNC Tooling

PATTERN MAKING- Pattern is a key activity in a Foundry. It takes a major time in developing an item. CRESCENT has installed two CNC machines to take care of the pattern requirement.

There is an in-house pattern shop taking care of pattern maintenance and pattern modifications of special patterns which cannot be made by CNC.

In addition to CNC Shop there is a Machine shop which extends support to Pattern making.

CERTIFICATION

Quality assurance is the most important activity and is valued by all clients. CRESCENT has certification in ISO 9000:2008, ISO14001, ISO18000, KITE MARK, S-MARK

INSPECTION

It is an important activity and item is inspected at each stage during production depending on the procedure adopted right from the raw material.

Raw material: Raw material Pig iron, Sand, Chemicals, Additives, Paint, Scrap.

Liquid metal

  • Temperature of pouring
  • Sample – For physical testing by UTS for tensile and Brinell Hardness for hardness
  • Sample – For Microstructure
  • Chilled sample – Spectrometer analysis of chemical composition
  • Borings from Casting – Wet analysis for chemical composition
  • Casting Time – During Ductile Iron casting

Finish Item

  • Machining – Critical dimension check
